8. There Will Be Multiple Directors
While Pizzolatto will be returning, the first seasons director Cary Fukunaga will not. In fact, not only will Fukunaga not be returning, but neither will the use of only one director. Thats right; the second season of True Detective will have multiple directors for each episode. This change can seem disconcerting given how the use of one director made the first season so unique, but the use of multiple directors has its own advantages. The talent rumored to be involved is very intriguing, including The Exorcist director William Friedkin. The only director currently confirmed is Fast & Furious director Justin Lin, who will be directing the first two episodes. So it appears that some major directors are being approached to lend their talents to True Detective. Given the immense praise the series has earned over the year, it isnt surprising that it would attract a plethora of directors. Who knows what familiar names will be dropped in the coming months.
