10 Things You Need To Know About True Detective Season 2
3. It Will Take Place In California
One of the most memorable elements of True Detective was its setting. The southern Louisiana landscape, with its expansive plains, numerous oil refineries, and muddy swamps, made for an atmosphere of constant otherness and existential dread. It was practically a character of its own. But now its time to say goodbye to Louisiana and hello to California as Nic Pizzolatto himself has confirmed that the Golden State will be the setting of season two. However, that doesnt mean you can expect to see your typical Hollywood iconography. In an interview with To the Best of Our Knowledge, Pizzolatto stated that it will take place in some of the much lesser known venues of California and were going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season one. So while California may seem like a boring choice at first glance, it seems safe to assume that we will see a side of the state rarely represented on film or television. Will it be as creepy as Louisiana? Who knows, but hopefully it will be different enough that comparisons become obsolete.
