10 Things You Only Notice Rewatching Schitt's Creek

6. The Apothecary Receipt

Schitts Creek
CBC Television

Schitts Creek has earned a reputation as one of the most celebrated comedies ever. However, it's also renowned for having some of the most touching moments seen in television in recent years. And one of the biggest emotional bombshells occurred in the episode, Grad Night.

When Patrick invites David to dinner for his birthday, he doesn't realise it's a date and so, asks Stevie to join him. When Patrick gifts David with a framed receipt of their business' first sale, only then does he realise their get-together is a date. Out of embarrassment, Patrick emphasises it's not a big deal but David reassures him its the receipt is the sweetest present he's ever received.

As romantic as this gesture is, it leaves a bigger impact if you notice the receipt made a reappearance. While David argues with Alexis in their room in the finale, you can see the framed receipt on the side table. Because the finale aired three years after the Grad Night episode, some viewers may have forgotten the significance of this receipt. But since David proudly has this gift on display, it's obvious he never will.
