10 Things You Only Notice Rewatching Schitt's Creek

3. Don't Worry, It's His Sister!

Schitts Creek
CBC Television

One of the funniest gags in the whole show has to be the argument over Schitt's Creek Welcome sign. In the picture, there is a woman bending over a river while her brother stands behind her. Because of their positioning, it looks like the woman is, in Johnny's words, "being banged from behind". Roland tries to remove any sexual implications from the picture by putting up a note beside the sign reading, 'DON'T WORRY, IT'S HIS SISTER!' Unsurprisingly, this makes things worse.

Because this whole set-up is one of the most memorable moments, you expect the show to make some callback to it. Although this is true, a lot of people didn't pick up on it. At David's wedding, he panics when he sees Alexis' white dress is actually a bridal gown. David becomes hysterical at the possibility that his guests are going to mistake them as a couple instead of siblings.

This little nod only becomes obvious in hindsight since we see the infamous Schitts Creek Welcome sign later in the episode. Most viewers miss this reference the first time round but it's clear as day on the second viewing.
