The desperate hunt for Aegon Targaryen in the penultimate episode of House of the Dragon's first season featured a blink-and-you'll-miss-it piece of tantalizing detail. Despite the fleeting nature of this unacknowledged cameo, it could potentially be the first appearance of a storied character from Fire and Blood.

In their search for the missing would-be King, the Cargyll twins come across an arena frequented by Aegon. The establishment operates as a human cockfighting business, forcing preadolescent street urchins into mortal combat for entertainment. This would be horrifying enough without the revelation that Aegon's bastard offspring actually number among these unfortunate children.

The most distinctive member of these platinum-haired youngsters can briefly be seen sitting in the shadows. The child in question bears a striking resemblance to Aegon's most famous alleged bastard, Gaemon Palehair. While he is eventually unmasked as a Targaryen pretender, Gaemon still plays a tragically pivotal role in the aftermath of the Dance of the Dragons.

The boy's uncanny likeness to Aegon coupled with his prominent placing in promotional material for the episode means that the signs are more than promising. While the show would have to slightly alter Gaemon's timeline to account for his inclusion at this point in proceedings, House of the Dragon's use of artistic license to date would indicate that this is far from the realms of impossibility.
