Like many successful series, Teen Wolf likes to place breadcrumbs for the fans, hinting at the future to come. Several of the show’s season finales foreshadowed the upcoming season’s villains.

In the Season One finale, “Code Breaker,” Jackson asks Derek to bite him, which sets in motion his transformation into a kanima and the main antagonist of Season Two.

The Season Two finale, “Master Plan,” includes the appearance of the Alpha Pack’s mark painted on the door of the Hale House. This signals the Alpha Pack’s role as the main villains of Season 3A. The Alpha Pack, a group consisting of the leader Deucalion, the claw-footed Kali, the brutish Ennis, and the merging Alpha Twins presented a key challenge for Scott’s pack.

The finale of Season 3A, “Lunar Ellipse,” foreshadows the antagonists of both Seasons 3A and Four. The ritual performed by Scott, Allison and Stiles to save their parents from the darach Jennifer Blake had the side effect of releasing the Nogitsune in Beacon Hills. Peter Hale’s declaration that he has always been the alpha hints at his Season Four plot to kill Scott to regain his alpha status.

In the Season 3B finale, “The Divine Move,” Stiles used chess pieces to describe the identities of the supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills to his father. However, Sheriff Stilinski misidentified Kate Argent as a werewolf, which foretells Kate’s surprising transformation into a werecreature (even though it turned out to be a werejaguar not a werewolf).
