10 Times Doctor Who Appeared In Other TV Shows

4. Star Trek: The Next Generation

Star Trek and Doctor Who have crossed streams at several points, most notably in a 2012 comic-book story which saw Eleven and the Ponds battle the Cybermen with the likes of Picard, Riker, and Data.

However, a link between the two sci-fi juggernauts that's far more easy-to-miss can be found in the Season 1 finale of The Next Generation, in which a computer screen displays the names of the first six actors to play the Doctor: William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, and Colin Baker (on the left-hand side of the image above).

Well, actually, Davison's name is misspelled "Davidson", which is quite a strange mistake considering how easy that would've been to fact-check.

For some unknown reason, this particular screen was changed when TNG was remastered in HD, meaning that you won't find it on the versions you'll see on Blu-ray, Netflix, or other similar services. Quite annoying, considering how difficult it is to make out those names in lousy standard definition. Time to get your squint on!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
