10 Times Donald Glover Stole The Show In Community
4. Law And Order Bad Cop (Basic Lupine Urology)
The absurd commitment that Troy and Abed have to anything they find funny, losing themselves into roles that allow them to play character archetypes and use their imaginations in a beneficial way, is one of the sweetest parts of the whole show. Getting to watch these lovable goofballs pretend to be Law and Order cops while solving a mystery over a biology assignment gone wrong is just inherently lovable, and does so much to cement Basic Lupine Urology as one of the most charming episodes.
The study group have to do all their biology assignments together because of previous inability to choose partners. Suspecting conspiracy, they band together behind Lawyer Annie, Police Chief Shirley and most importantly, Detectives Troy and Abed who are getting to the bottom of the case. While all the sequences of these two dorks actually being pretty solid at investigating are amazing, the highlight of Glover's performance comes in the interrogation of Star Burns.
Troy taking on the role of Bad Cop is an absolute delight, doing the perfect version of an aggressive TV macho man who doesn't play by the rules when it comes to crime. The best moment of the scene is Troy yelling, "you don't order ketchup, it's a condiment!", before hitting Star Burns' hat off his head and being told to walk it off by Abed. It's an endlessly rewatchable moment that Glover excels at.
