10 Times Futurama Made NO Sense

6. Fry's Speech Wasn't Flawless

In one of the first few episodes of Futurama, Fry, Leela, and Bender were sent off to a delivery on the planet Trisol, named for the three suns that beat down on the planet. After a long, hot walk, Fry was dehydrated and when he found a bottle of water sitting by, he drank it without much thought.

However, this seemingly innocuous bottle of water was actually the Emperor of the entire planet. Instead of being punished, Fry was rewarded with the title of Emperor, so long as he could recite the royal oath flawlessly from memory.

If Fry failed, he would not be sworn in as the new Emperor, and would be killed on the spot. When the time came, not only did Fry not recite the speech from memory (he had it all written on his arm), he promised to rule with insanity, before correcting himself to integrity.

This is a pretty big flaw, and since he was specifically warned that the speech had to be flawless, this should have been punishable by death. Instead, the whole thing seemed to go unnoticed, and Fry was coronated as the Emperor. What then, was the point in making such a big deal of the oath before, and threatening Fry with death if they were just going to ignore his mistake anyway?
