10 Times Futurama Made NO Sense
7. How Did Leela Get Her Hearing Back?
Thanks to cancellations and uncertainty over the show's future, Futurama has seen a fair amount of finales and potential finales through its time. Easily the best however, was the very first end to Futurama, which closed out season four by bringing Fry and Leela closer together than ever.
'The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings' saw Fry desperate to learn the holophonor, and struck a deal with the Robot Devil to get the mechanical hands to help make it happen. He ultimately wrote and performed an opera to win Leela's heart, but thanks to Bender and Beelzebot, she was rendered deaf and couldn't hear a thing.
Eventually, Leela was given Calculon's robotic ears and was able to hear Fry play a touching piece as they both walked into the distance together. This was the end of the series until the show was picked back up for four straight to DVD movies, and in the four years between this episode and Bender's Big Score, the writers seemed to forget that Leela had robotic ears attached to her head.
The first Futurama movie picked back up with Leela having perfect hearing, no yellow antennas sticking out of her skull, with absolutely no mention ever again of her affliction and how it was ever reversed.
