10 Times Mad Men Became The Weirdest Drama On Television
3. That Time Ginsberg Sliced His Own Nipple Off
Nobody saw this one coming, unless of course they were experts in mental health, with a particular speciality in computer-induced schizophrenia. Ben Feldman's Ginsberg, one of the top artists for Sterling Cooper, had been a kind of loveable, nerdy side-character to fans since he first appeared in season 4. Then came the computer, the IBM behemoth installed in Ginsberg's creative space, forcing him to find himself a new place to work in the office. But Ginsberg's troubles didn't stop there - never the most stable person anyway, Ginsberg became convinced that the hum from this new-fangled machine was secretly brainwashing people at Sterling Cooper and turning them into homosexuals. Obviously, for Ginsberg, the best way out of this Orwellian nightmare was to slice off his right nipple and hand it over to Peggy, gift-wrapped. He was promptly escorted out of the office, strapped to a stretcher and presumably headed wherever they hid crazy people back in the '60s.
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
