10 Times Mad Men Became The Weirdest Drama On Television

4. That Time Ken Cosgrove Started Tap-Dancing

This one's a scene from the speed episode, but accounts man Ken Cosgrove's brief foray into dance theatre deserves its own spot for sheer, oddball brilliance. In The Crash, Ken's recently been left relying on a walking stick to get around following a car accident, but here he's jacked up on speed like the rest of them, and damned if he's going to let something like a crippling injury get in the way of his tap-dancing. To the amazement of Don and his secretary, Ken proceeds to list all the reasons why he's the plaything for the boorish Chevrolet company men, all the while seemingly unable to control his feet from breaking into a tap-dance. Then, with a bounce of his cane, he's gone. Is it some kind of dream of Don's? Of Cosgrove's? Or both? In an episode where the line between reality and fantasy is constantly blurred, this moment takes the prize.
