10 Times The Simpsons Really Did It

1. Ack, My Retirement Grease!

Groundskeeper Willie had a unique plan with which to seek early retirement in The Simpsons episode "Lard of the Dance" (Season 10) - selling a huge stash of used grease. The only snag came when Homer and Bart happened to muscle themselves into the grease racket. They spoil Willie's big score after being scared off of the grease racket elsewhere in town, trying to steal his greasy spoils out from under him - right out of the high school cafeteria deep fryer. Pretty silly, right? Who would ever bother trying to profit from used grease? These guys. The grease recycling business was established at least a couple of decades ago, but wide-spread reports of grease thefts didn't become common until around 2008 or so. There's probably a few reasons for that. According to The Complete Lawyer, a 55 pound drum of used grease was going for as much as $100 just a few years ago. In 2007, a U.S. law was passed stating that 36 billion gallons of biofuel must be mixed into transportation fuel by 2022. Suddenly, used grease it big business. Much like Homer, your arteries may be worth a fortune!
