10 Times Star Trek Refused To Give Fans What They Wanted

3. Cancelling Enterprise

Much like The Original Series, Star Trek: Enterprise didn't go out without a fight. However, in addition to a letter-writing campaign like the one that brought us season three of TOS, many fans of Enterprise were also willing to offer up their money to keep the show going.

A campaign was started by TrekUnited in 2005 with the express goal of raising enough funds from Star Trek fans to renew the show for a fourth season. A spokesperson for the organisation stated that it would take around $30,000,000 USD to pay for a new season and, although they didn't reach anywhere close to this goal, the amount they were pledged was still staggering.

The campaign managed to reach over $3,072,000 USD, three million of which were pledged by three donors who chose to remain anonymous, but who TrekUnited said were 'some of the main entrepreneurs in the commercial space flight industry'. They also reportedly told TrekUnited that about half of their colleagues in the space industry were inspired to work their jobs because of Star Trek, and explained that it's important to have the show on the air to inspire even more people to learn science.
