10 Times Star Trek: The Next Generation Tried To Be Sexy
5. This IS Sex! (“Hide And Q”)
With so many alien species to choose from – icy Vulcans, jovial Denobulans, sensual Orions, and so on – there are countless opportunities to explore weird and wild aspects of sexuality. Bring two species together for a relationship, or even just a conversation, and the potential for humor and drama only multiplies.
The intimate proclivities of Klingons, in particular, have raised more than a few eyebrows, most frequently thanks to the Enterprise’s own resident Klingon, Worf. When Q appears and shares his power with Riker, the commander uses it to help his crewmates.
He decides to give Worf a companion, and a growling female Klingon appears on the bridge. She lashes out at Tasha Yar before Worf grabs her. He strikes her across the face and sends her tumbling.
As the bridge crew watches, mystified, Worf and the Klingon female bare their teeth and advance on one another. Worf then shouts “No!”, rejecting the would-be mate as something from a world now alien to him.
Still puzzled, Geordi asks Worf if that scene – the violence, the menace, and such – is his idea of sex. Speaking for all Klingons everywhere, Worf replies simply, “This IS sex.”
