Every show needs a wise man. The Walking Dead was blessed with Hershel, while Game Of Thrones came with Ned Stark. They were both noble, just, fair, yet stern (bearded) men who fought for what they believed in, and stuck to their principles until the very end for them. Hershel and Ned were both ordered to be executed by the main villains from each show, and the method was exactly the same. Beheading. Not only were the wise old heads removed, but they were both displayed after their death. It was a pair of unjust conclusions to their storylines.
