10 Times TV Heroes Became The Bad Guy In Their Own Show

9. Andy Millman - Extras

It might be strange to call Ricky Gervais' character Andy Millman a hero since nothing he does in Extras would be considered remotely heroic. However, his change in attitude and behaviour in the Christmas Special is a shift in personality that stops us feeling sympathetic for him, and starts making us animosity towards the character.

After achieving nationwide stardom with a successful sitcom, wealth and a Rolodex of celebrity friends, it looks like Andy is living the high-life. Then success starts to corrupt him and over the course of the Christmas Special we see Andy twist into a vindictive and cruel idea of a diva celebrity.

While a few sequences come to mind, his transition to something akin to a villain occurs when an idealistic extra approaches him on the set of his show asking for a line in a scene. It's very reminiscent of Andy's earlier days, only the tables are turned differently when Andy demands the young actor be fired for even approaching him.

While Andy does find redemption at the end, it has to be noted that he wouldn't have found inner peace had he not had such an ugly ego to begin with.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
