10 Times TV Heroes Became The Bad Guy In Their Own Show
5. John Locke - Lost
Lost, the worldwide phenomenon of the early 2000's may be remembered today for its go-nowhere plot and crash-landing ending (no pun intended). But it would be fair to say the show also had some very exciting characters, none more so than John Locke.
Locke was the resourceful survivalist of the castaways, and frequently butted heads with the sweaty leader Jack Shepherd on spiritualism and destiny in a way that made de facto hero Jack look quite stupid at times.
The timeline and events of the show are far too convoluted to explain, but it is revealed towards the show's final season that Locke left the island and was killed. His corpse is returned, and the new Locke we see on the island for the future episodes is the deadly Smoke Monster/Man In Black, who had taken the form of Locke (too dumb to explain why).
While it's not technically John Locke walking the jungle and taking the form of terrifying gas, it is still Locke on screen and everyone addresses him by the title. And while characters like Sayid, Charlie and even sweet Claire did things that leaned into bad deeds, it's Locke's emerging as the ultimate baddie that is the most memorable.
