10 TV Characters Finally Returning In 2022
7. Dan Fielding - Night Court
One of many classic sitcoms from NBC’s incredibly successful 1980s roster, Night Court hasn’t been remembered quite as fondly as some of its stablemates, but can stand up as a gem of its era, and as is the trend, it’s getting a reboot in the near future.
Precious little has been revealed as to the concept, but we do know that John Larroquette will be returning in his role as delightfully slimy prosecutor Dan Fielding, and for fans of the original show, there’s not much more we need to know in order to be sold.
Larroquette’s Fielding was influential for many unscrupulous charmers in sitcoms hence; he was narcissistic, amoral, and endlessly deceitful, chasing money and sex at the expense of just about anything else. And yet the actor - a quadruple Emmy winner for his work - found a depth to the part, imbuing the character with a deep seated feeling of unworthiness.
The show will co-star The Big Bang Theory’s Melissa Raunch as the daughter of Judge Harry Stone (following actor Harry Anderson’s 2018 passing), and will hopefully offer old school sitcom chops, a dying art in 2022.
