8. Jodie Landon - Josie
This series has a somewhat convoluted progression to the screen. It’s a spin off of Daria (itself a spin off of the aforementioned Beavis and Butt-Head), which was originally announced by MTV under the guise of Daria & Jodie, catching up with the titular characters some 20 years after we left them on the cusp of going away to college.
Somewhere along the way plans changed, and instead we’re getting a Jodie-centric series which sees the former supporting character thrust into a starring role as she graduates from Turner College and takes a job at a tech start up.
The world of Daria tended to dive a lot deeper into the lives of its characters than the majority of animated comedies, and Jodie in particular ended the show with a lot of possibilities in her fictional future, defying her parents’ wishes in her choice of college and future ambitions.
Anything in the Daria universe comes with a healthy dose of cynicism, though, so we can expect a satirical element to this show, set in the ripe world of tech companies.
