10 TV Characters We REALLY Didn't Want To Die

1. Hodor (Game Of Thrones)

Bran Hodor Game of Thrones
HBO

Pretty much every single death on Game of Thrones was memorable. Some sad, some anticipated, some even cheered for, but of all the deaths, Hodor's was the one that brought the most tears. Nobody wanted Hodor to die.

Hodor was everybody's favorite gentle giant. He only had the ability to say one thing, "Hodor" and nobody really understood why. He may have been a bit stupid but it didn't stop Hodor from protecting the ones he loved, especially little Lord Bran Stark.

At first, we all thought Hodor was a bit of comic relief but we soon realized that everybody in Game Of Thrones was there for a reason. We then found out that Hodor was a Winterfell stableboy named Wyllis. Because of Bran's constant waging, Wyllis manages to witness his own death which then sends him crazy. Seeing your own death can do that to people.

It is then revealed that "Hodor" actually comes from the phrase "hold the door" the words that Wyllis hears when watching himself die.

The reveal was one of the most jaw-dropping moments in Game Of Thrones history as well as the most upsetting.
