10 TV Characters Who Got Undeservedly Brutal Deaths

Why It Was Undeserved

Glenn (Steven Yeun) was the heart and soul of The Walking Dead, a character who averted stereotypes while going on to become far more than the comic relief he initially seemed to be.

While the majority of the other surviving original characters had been hardened beyond recognition by everything they'd seen, Glenn refused to shed his calm temperament and rosy outlook.

Unfortunately, this made his stomach-churningly brutal death at the start of season seven that much more shocking, having his head beaten to a pulp by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) with his trusty spiked baseball bat Lucille.

Negan makes great pains to prolong Glenn's death for several minutes, popping his eye out of his skull with his first few hits, laughing at his refusal to immediately die, and then smashing his head into unrecognisable remains in front of not only his friends, but also his wife Maggie (Lauren Cohan).

The death was so revolting it heavily divided fans and critics over the show's use of violence and whether such a brutal death was excessive, even for a show transpiring amidst a zombie apocalypse.

Glenn was the show's moral centre, and sure as hell didn't deserve such a slow, undignified death.
