10 TV Characters Who Were Perfectly Cast (The Second Time)
3. Queen Elizabeth II - The Crown
Your writer isn't going to sit here and pretend to admit that either one of these excellent award-winning turns as Queen Elizabeth II is clearly better than the other. They both absolutely nailed it, let's be honest
But keeping with the theme of hitting it out of the park on the second time of asking, there's no doubt that Olivia Colman took the ball that Claire Foy had more than effectively ran with - picking up a Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe for her work - and proceeded to keep up the pace in her stint as the Queen on The Crown.
Though Foy's Elizabeth being placed in the real-life figure's younger years gave us a chance to see her dealing with all of the anxiety and uncertainty that came in the wake of WWII, Colman's Queen showed us how the monarch interacted with her children and she also imbued the character with the sort of quiet dignity and sometimes sadness that comes with holding down the royal fort for such a sustained period of time.
Colman would ultimately take home her own Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy for her work, proving that Netflix smashed their Queen casting on two separate occasions.
