10 TV Characters You Forgot Were Recast
8. The Night King - Game Of Thrones
You really cannot be blamed for not noticing this one.
The Night King was one of the most important villains on Game Of Thrones. He was the terrifying leader of the white walkers, one of the main character's biggest threats throughout the show's run, and the show's signature catchphrase "winter is coming", originates because of him.
The original Night King was played by Richard Brake through season 4 and 5, but was promptly swapped out with Vladimir Furdik in season 6. Furdik was known to Game Of Thrones already, having been one of their resident stunt performers and having played the first white walker that Jon Snow ever killed.
Not much is known about why the recasting took place, there is some lukewarm reporting that states it was due to Brake having "schedule conflicts" but nothing is really set in stone.
Who knows, maybe in a few years a story will come out that reframe the recasting in a more dramatic light. But for now, this one goes down in the history book as a mystery.
