10 TV Deaths That Totally Trolled Audiences
2. Jon Snow - Game Of Thrones
This list could have easily been populated entirely with deaths from Game of Thrones. After all, the showrunners trolled the hell out of the audience in every season, and while it was clear that nobody was safe from death, a few characters did seem to be secure in their longevity.
Then, the Red Wedding made it clear that absolutely nobody was safe, but still, the audience couldn't imagine someone like Jon Snow would be killed off. After all, he was a main character, and by this time in the series, it was clear to most viewers that he wasn't truly the bastard son Stark; he was a Targaryen and the true heir to the throne.
Jon had risen through the ranks of the Night's Watch to become the Lord Commander, and his decision to show leniency to the Free Folk alienated him from some of the more grizzled brothers under his command. They mutinied and killed him by stabbing him repeatedly.
Not only was it insane to think that someone as important to the story as Jon could die, but it was also a season-ending cliffhanger. For months, the Internet was abuzz with talk of his killing, but when the show returned, it was true. The Lord Commander was dead. Granted, he was brought back to life by Red Priestess Melisandre, who used the power of R'hllor, but he was truly dead for longer than he would have liked.
