10 TV Douche-Bags Who Get Away With Everything

1. Walter White- Breaking Bad

Walt And Hank

In the introduction, I said there was no particular order to this countdown. I lied. I tried so desperately hard to resist putting Walter White in this list, but no conversation about douche-bags would ever be complete without mentioning this guy's name. An awful lot has and will be said about him on WhatCulture, so for those reasons I'll do my best to keep it brief. The evidence for Walter's inclusion of in a list of 10 douche-bags who get away with everything is best presented if we compare him to that of his brother in law, Hank Schrader. There's no denying that Hank was a complete douche-bag in the beginning of Breaking Bad. He played the brash, arrogant bruiser cop cliché to absolute perfection, where Walt was just a loving husband and father struggling to support his growing family on a teacher's salary. When he accompanied the DEA on a drug bust in the very first episode however, it started a chain of events that has led to almost a complete role reversal between two very polarised characters. If we fast forward to 'Blood Money' (05x09) we finally see the cards laid out and the battle lines drawn between these men. On one side we have Hank, who endured post-traumatic stress after witnessing his partners get blown up and an assassination attempt by the Juarez Cartel to become a pseudo parent to Walt Jr and Holly whilst dealing with his kleptomaniac wife and tirelessly pursuing Heisenberg at the cost of his health and career advancement. On the other we have Walt, Heisenberg, the man who has ruined Jesse's life in more ways than he can ever comprehend, practically made his wife a prisoner in her own home, arranges the murder of nine men in two minutes and even resorts to poisoning children in the name of self-preservation. There were flashes of the old 'episode one' personalities in the stand-off, with Hank punching Walt in the face. The main difference now is that Hank has paid dearly for his his actions and has reformed his douche-bag status as much as someone of his type could, where the murderous, drug lord Walter White continues to cause untold pain without apology or remorse. The journey these two men have embarked has fantastic one to watch in so many ways and one can only speculate how it will end. Whatever does happens to Walt, I'm not sure his punishment will ever match his crimes. So there we have it, 10 TV douchebags who get away with Everything. If anyone managed to get the end of this gargantuan list, feel free to reward yourself by adding your own entry in the comment box below.
