10 TV Episodes NOBODY Was Ready For
6. Clarifications - The Wire
Though it seems to have been largely forgotten about now, The Wire was a very popular, very important addition into the cannon of prestige television from the early 2000s.
This gritty street drama revolved around a group of characters in the city of Baltimore, Maryland. One of the most intriguing names on the call sheet was Omar Little, an infamous robber with a surprising amount of moral fortitude.
Omar never sought to harm the innocent, only committing crimes against other criminals. He was also gay, so faced a great deal of prejudice in the brutal world he inhabited.
As played by the sadly departed Michael K. Williams, Omar was many people's favourite character on the show. That is, until he was viciously gunned down by young boy.
Right at the start of the episode Clarifications, Omar goes to a corner store when, out of nowhere, he is shot in the back of the head by a street kid named Kenard.
Kenard didn't go onto become a major character, so on the surface this death seemed to achieve nothing. In reality, it was just another example of how dangerous Baltimore could be and how even a big fish like Omar wasn't safe.
