10 TV Episodes NOBODY Was Ready For

5. Fly - Breaking Bad

Game Of Thrones Red Wedding
AMC

Now, there are plenty of other episodes of Breaking Bad you might have thought we were going to choose.

The obvious answer was Ozymandias, the episode where about five hundred different major plot points happen all at once. But that's been talked about a lot, so let's discuss maybe the weirdest episode in the show's history.

Fly from Season 3 is what's known as a bottle episode; one that takes place in one location with a small number of characters. It sees Walter White get distracted from his work brewing meth by a errant fly in his laboratory.

As Walter (and later Jessie) hunt the buzzing insect, it soon becomes clear that the "fly" isn't a fly at all. It's actually a manifestation of Walt's guilt at the terrible things he has done. This is compounded when, at the episode's end, Walt can still see and hear the fly whilst lying in bed.

If you told someone that a cheap episode about a bug was going to be one of the most interesting episodes of Breaking Bad, they'd have said you were off your rocker.

And yet, here we are.
