10 TV Episodes You Didn't Know Were Filmed By Famous Hollywood Directors
10. Terriers Rian Johnson
Episode: "Manifest Destiny" Best known for his neo-Noir homage, Brick, the con caper The Brothers Bloom and Sci-Fi thriller Looper, Rian Johnson has also directed a few of Breaking Bad's best episodes. Of course, this is Breaking Bad, so that really just means that he's directed some episodes they're all the best. You may have known about his involvement in the fifth season he directed the great "Ozymandias," "Fifty One," and the infamous season three bottle episode, "Fly." But did you know that he also directed an episode of short lived critical darling Terriers? "Manifest Destiny" was the fifth in the one and only season, and is a trademark example of the great dialogue and Chandleresque plots of Terriers, as detectives Hank and Brit have to despose of a corpse and slowly uncover a massive conspiracy. Noel Murray at the A.V. Club praised Johnson's a "stylistic flourish," calling the episode "especially well-shot, with clever little visual touches like the reflections of high-rises behind Hank in the Z&A offices, and the shot of Stephanie disappearing into the attic via the top of the frame."
