10 TV Episodes You Didn't Know Were Filmed By Famous Hollywood Directors

5. Boss €“ Gus Van Sant

Episode: "Listen" Gus Van Sant has directed the good (Good Will Hunting), the bad (that horrid Psycho remake) and the downright mediocre (Finding Forester). He also has his share of lesser known works, such as Paranoid Park, Elephant, and a segment of the simply wonderful Paris ,Je T'aime. And now you can add T.V. director to that resume. You may only know Boss as that show about that guy from Frasier, or you're familiar with it, and know it as that show with that guy from Frasier. Sorry, Boss fans, but while it's a decent show, it's virtually impossible to separate anything Kelsey Grammer does from Frasier (and as we all know, Frasier is the best sitcom of all time). Van Sant (who also produces the show), directed the pilot, "Listen," which introduces us to the almost completely unlikeable Mayor of Chicago, Tom Kane. Was it great? No, but Van Sant does a good job to give Boss its own distinct feel, and gives Grammer space to create a character who we may not like, but can still sympathize with.
