10 TV Fan Theories Better Than We Actually Got

8. Kevin Was Embezzling From Dunder Mifflin - The Office

There are literally dozens of fascinating fan theories about The Office, but the most hilarious-yet-plausible of all is surely that dopey accountant Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner) was secretly embezzling funds from Dunder Mifflin.

In the series finale, Kevin gets fired from the office for making constant mistakes, only for him to go on and buy a bar which he now operates to considerable success.

How could Kevin of all people find the dough to buy a bar? Stealing from his workplace, of course, of which there's some not-insignificant hints throughout the show.

In the finale itself, Kevin freely admits that he cooked Dunder Mifflin's books using the made-up number "Keleven," and if we go back further, Kevin is shown to have a potentially costly gambling habit, and in season three states that insider trading "sounds a lot like what [he does] every day."

Like many of the show's characters, Kevin demonstrably became an increasing caricature of himself as the seasons wore on, but what if this was actually an intentional ploy on his part, to feign stupidity so that he'd never be suspected of defrauding his place of employment? Genius.
