10 TV Fan Theories Better Than We Actually Got

2. Bran Was The Night King - Game Of Thrones

You'll struggle to find a series finale more pervasively underwhelming than Game of Thrones, which among its numerous sins made the head-scratching choice to appoint Bran the Broken (Isaac Hempstead Wright) the new King of the Seven Kingdoms.

But a popular fan theory which did the rounds prior to the airing of the final season suggested a far more interesting end for Bran, yet one which still resulted in him being crowned King - sort of.

After Bran warged into young Hodor (Kristian Nairn) in the past, fans debated whether Bran could try to stop the war with the White Walkers by warging into the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) before he was transformed into a White Walker by the Children of the Forest.

The previous Three-Eyed Raven (Max von Sydow) warned Bran that he could get stuck in the past without due care, and the theory argues that Bran indeed got trapped inside the Night King while attempting to stop the war.

It's important to remember that the Three-Eyed Raven also told Bran that the past cannot be changed, and so even if Bran warged into the Night King, he would only be able to play out events as they always happened.

But it would explain why the Night King never killed Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) when he had the chance.
