10 TV Fates Worse Than Death

6. Rick And Morty - Being Cronenberg'd

Game of Thrones
Adult Swim

First season highlight Rick Potion #9 sees Rick begrudgingly brewing up a love potion for Morty, to allow him to woo his high-school sweetheart Jessica. Jessica, however, has the flu, so upon giving her the serum it goes viral, spreading throughout the population and making everyone fall in love with Morty.

That's a fate worse than death in itself, but it gets worse. Rick attempts to reverse the effects of the serum using an antidote made from preying mantis DNA... but it turns everyone into mantis-men.

In an effort to reverse the effects of the first two serums, Rick creates yet another potion by mixing DNA from various sources... which ends up turning everyone into horrific inhuman abominations which Rick affectionately nicknames "Cronenbergs".

Being turned into one of these amalgams would be an indescribably terrifying fate: you'd be completely unrecognisable as a human, irreversibly transformed into a monster with the rest of the world along with you. It's no surprise that Rick decides to abandon the situation entirely at the end of the episode and find a new dimension where he and Morty can forget that their nightmare-inducing mistake ever happened.
