10. "Rev Up Your Harley" - The New Batman Adventures

The heightened theatricality of an animated superhero show makes it easy for adult jokes to be slid past unsuspecting young viewers, while giving adults a firm extra chuckle in the process.

In the "Mad Love" episode of The New Batman Adventures, The Joker is busy figuring out a plan to finally kill Batman once and for all, only to be interrupted by Harley Quinn, who happens to be wearing some revealing nightwear.

The Joker is so obsessed with his work that he tells Harley to leave, only for her to provocatively retort, "Ah come on, Puddin'. Don't you wanna rev up your Harley? Vroom, vroom!"

Because young viewers are used to seeing Harley in an array of exuberant outfits, they won't bat an eyelid at what's supposed to be a sexy negligee.

But revisiting the episode years later, the implication speaks for itself - and the "revving" is enthusiastically acted out by Harley for good measure, too.

It's also a gag that works on an additional level, mocking the all-consuming fascination The Joker has with Batman, to the extent that he'd be oblivious to the lustful advances of his partner in crime. To kids, though, it's just Harley being Harley.

Legend states the line was originally even less subtle, with Harley inviting the Clown Prince of Crime to ride his Harley, but the censors reportedly forced a change.
