10 TV Plot Threads That Were Never Resolved

8. What Happened To ALF? - ALF

Alf Finale Ending
NBC

Oh, God. Talk about depressing TV finales - especially when they're employed on otherwise fun-natured shows. Aside from being absolutely hilarious, ALF was also an alien, a trait that - on our planet, at least - entitles you to a good "hunting down" by the government and subsequent autopsy in a laboratory. And horrifically, that's what we can only assume happened to our good-natured friend ALF after the events of the show's last ever episode.

That's right: the show's final sequence has ALF surrounded by government agents about to be taken into custody. And that's it. "Executive Producer" flashes up and the credits roll. After four seasons of human/alien interactions in a nice, sitcom-my environment, ALF is suddenly subjected to this.

"But he... he teleported... he must've teleported!" you scream. I'm sorry, but... no, he didn't, because you know ALF can't teleport. It's probably important to mention that ALF was, at the time, supposed to be picked up for a fifth season, but it was cancelled, presumably because somebody released they had made a sitcom about an alien living in American suburbia. As a result of said cancellation, the otherwise comical family sitcom ends on the world's biggest bum note. The more you think about it, the more depressing it gets. Poor ALF. Oh, Earth, why are you so cruel? He came in peace!
