10 TV Posters You Won't Believe

4. "OMFG!" - Gossip Girl

Hit teen drama Gossip Girl was never a show to shy away from being provocative, and though the marketing for its first season was pretty typical for the genre, for season two The CW opted for a series of racy ads showing several main characters in various states of lustful, mid-coitus canoodling, accompanied by the words, "OMFG."

It was marketed perfectly towards the show's teen demographic, though unsurprisingly caught flak from concern groups who felt that the ads, which were displayed prominently both in print and on billboards, were too sexually charged.

Hilariously The CW responded by opting for slightly more demure marketing for season three, though accompanied each of the character posters with derisive media quotes such as "Mind-blowingly inappropriate," "Every parent's nightmare," and "A nasty piece of work." Genius.

Sex sells and controversy creates cash, so they clearly knew what they were doing here.
