10 TV Scenes You'll Never See

3. NoHo Hank's Original Death - Barry

Curb Your Enthusiasm Larry
HBO

Barry's series finale saw the deaths of numerous prominent characters, including fan favourite gangster NoHo Hank (Anthony Carrigan), who is shot and killed by Fuches (Stephen Root).

But the scene we see in the episode itself was actually a reshoot, due to star-creator Bill Hader being dissatisfied with the original version of Hank's demise.

While appearing on Variety's "Making a Scene" series, Hader revealed that prior to Hank's death, he originally had a bonding moment with Sally (Sarah Goldberg), who he has kidnapped along with her son, over their shared love-hate for Barry (Hader).

But Hader began to doubt the sequence when Sarah Goldberg questioned why Sally would bond with the man who kidnapped her and her son, at which point Hader realised he was trying to be a little too crowd-pleasing for his own good. He said:

"I realised later the answers were fan service. I got insecure and I was like, 'Oh, the fans will love this.' ... I was insecure and enough people had told me, 'The show has gotten so bleak' that I was like, 'Oh, it should have a nice hopeful moment.'"

Though many fans would certainly love to see the scrapped scene be posted online someday, given that Hader called it "embarrassing," it's incredibly unlikely to ever see the light of day.
