10 TV Show Comic Spin-Offs That Are Surprisingly Awesome

Buffy isn't the only comic book to get the modern-day treatment. Also published by Boom! Studios, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics take the cheesy nineties kids show and updates it to the modern setting. That said, don't be fooled into thinking this is the children's show you remember.

Written by Kyle Higgins - known for his Batman and Nightwing run as well as his Winter Soldier miniseries - the comic is aimed at a more mature audience, as it doesn't shy away from topics like death and mourning. It might sound a little heavy, and it can be at times, but first and foremost it keeps the optimism of the original show.

Taking place after the fan favourite storyline Green With Evil, the show initially focuses on Tommy's integration into the tight-knit group of colour coordinated superheroes, before diverging from the show completely to tell its own story.

What's more, a prequel comic has just wrapped up which shows the Rangers early days and how they learnt to be the heroes they are, giving you even more morphenomonal reading.
