10 TV Show Finales That Totally Divided Fanbases
1. Game Of Thrones
Here it is, the crowning achievement in alienating almost the entirety of your fanbase in one fell swoop. If you're looking for an exercise in narrative disparity, then look no further, Game of Thrones has got you covered.
For a show like GOT, in which a massive part of its appeal is the elucidation in terms of every character's mortality being just as uncertain as the next, the finale took it too far when it came to unpredictability. After the war has proceeded to ravage the surrounding Earth, and the kingdom with its inhabitants remains in turmoil - for those that managed to remain - the reconstruction of the pantheon is the biggest prospect.
The resulting choices are exactly where people's gripes enter the fray, as the befuddling appointment of Bran as the new ruler raised more eyebrows than spirits. That's just one of the baffling choices made by the writers, as Tyrion basically just surrenders and throws in the towel with no resistance while Dany "liberates" the world before being unceremoniously stabbed in the back.
The writing decisions are questionable at best, but the general perception is that the writers were clearly stifled by creative burnout. The bemusing choices cap off one of TV's finest productions with the subsequent effect leaving more heads being scratched than a lice outbreak at a maximum-security prison.
