If you've only seen him in How I Met Your Mother, you might be surprised to learn that the actor behind womanising misogynist Barney Stinson isn't straight in real-life.

Neil Patrick Harris has been openly gay since 2006 and married fellow actor David Burtka in 2014. In recent years, he's embraced his sexuality in his work, particularly in the heart-breaking It's A Sin.

He also plays a recently single gay man in the Netflix sitcom Uncoupled, which was co-written by Emily in Paris hotshot Darren Star.

As Michael Lawson, NPH must navigate the New York dating scene after 17 years of relationship bliss. Christ, being away from dating for 17 minutes is exhausting enough.

We'll never find out how Michael does, as the show became yet another casualty of the big red N.

Despite getting decent reviews from critics and the star being in Netflix's good books, Uncoupled was abruptly cancelled after just a single season.

Don't feel too bad for Neil though, as he's got big time appearances in Doctor Who and How I Met Your Father lined up for this year.

His 2023 is going to be legend - wait for it...
