10 TV Shows Boycotted For Ridiculous Reasons

1. Game Of Thrones Had Too Much AND Not Enough Nudity

If HBO is known for anything it’s violence and nudity, often both at the same time. When Game Of Thrones premiered on the network it was no different, and the show went on to become one of the biggest successes in the history of television - but that’s when they boycotts started.

The reasons for Game Of Thrones boycotts are many, but one of the most common ones came a few seasons in and begged for the show to include as much male nudity as there was female nudity. Although there are valid points for this argument, it’s worth noting that even when Game Of Thrones started delivering some HD penis shots, notable Game Of Thrones boycotters - such as Sezin Koehler of the Huffington Post - weren’t happy, with Koehler writing in HuffPo that these shots were the equivalent of an unsolicited dick pic.

This is despite the fact that viewers wanting equal-opportunity nudity literally solicited for these dick pics through their boycotts.

Another area of concern – one that spread the Game Of Thrones boycott agenda online – focused on Sansa’s sexual assault storyline. Boycotters like The Mary Sue - which ceased all GoT coverage - claimed that the show didn’t have the right to depict sexual assault, a fact that Sophie Turner – the actress who plays Sansa – scoffed at in the media.

In an interview, Turner called out critics, saying that "the more we talk about sexual assault the better, and screw the people who are saying we shouldn't be putting this on TV and screw the people who are saying they're going to boycott the show because of it."
