10 TV Shows To Fill That Game Of Thrones Shaped Void
10. In The Flesh
While a low budget BBC 3 zombie drama doesn't exactly sound like the most exciting proposition, In The Flesh is about the closest you'll get to seeing a White Walker on TV at the moment. Set in northern England several years after 'The Rising', scientists have now found away to treat the undead, and to restore their brain functions and personalities. The catch is, these recovered zombies - or Partially Deceased Syndrome sufferers if you're being PC - need to be medicated once a day or they will return to their brain munching ways. While The Walking Dead comics were great, the TV series has been a pretty hit and miss affair, spending more time on poorly written character drama rather than the action and moral dilemmas the comics (and recent Telltale game) did so well. In The Flesh fares better, and its unique premise, solid writing and believable performances keep it an intriguing watch throughout, making you really feel for the poor undead facing persecution from their terrified neighbours. Being a low budget affair, some of the effects are laughably bad here, but the relatable characters and obvious parallels to racism and intolerance make it a thought provoking show that's well worth watching. The second season is currently airing on BBC3, and is also available on BBC IPlayer.
