10 TV Shows That Are Finally Ending
4. Stranger Things
Though we're probably a few years away from seeing Stranger Things' fifth and final season due to the ongoing strikes in Hollywood, there's a certain relief in knowing that the cancel-happy Netflix has allowed the Duffer Brothers to end the show on their terms.
And it's just as well, because given the lengthy production timelines of each season - unaided by both the pandemic and the aforementioned strikes - it's becoming increasingly difficult to take the central cast seriously as high-schoolers.
Even if season five airs as soon as 2025, that'll mark almost a decade since the show began, and short of the season introducing a substantial time jump, it'll simply be untenable to continue the story on this timeframe.
Star David Harbour himself even recently admitted that he feels like it's time for the show to end, telling Discussing Film:
"What's funny is when I started the show, I never ever wanted it to end. That's why I love the show. I think it's a great show, even if I wasn't in it... Now we're almost nine years from filming the first season, and I think it is time for it to end... It is time for us to leave that nest and try other things and different projects. And to let the Duffer Brothers try different things as well. I mean, those guys are so talented. I want to see what they come up with next. So it is bittersweet, but it's definitely time."
Very well put.
