10 TV Shows That Are Finally Ending

2. The Handmaid's Tale

Despite The Handmaid's Tale being an Emmy-winning smash hit show, many cheered when Hulu announced that the upcoming sixth season would finally be its last.

After all, the show's popularity and general acclaim have both waned considerably since the third season, with many feeling that the writing has simply strung audiences along for too long.

It has effectively ventured past its natural dramatic end-point on at least two occasions, enough that many fans have spoken vocally about abandoning the show completely.

Between that and its unavoidably bleak tone - which some have accused of being "misery/trauma porn" - The Handmaid's Tale simply wasn't a series built to go on for years and years. And so for many, knowing that there's only a single volume of episodes left is something of a mercy.

Though a spin-off show, The Testaments, is already in the works, it's fair to assume that many will have had their fill of Margaret Atwood's world by the time the mainline series rolls to a stop.
