10 TV Shows That Deserve Comic Book Continuations

6. Quantum Leap

Quantum Leap Most of the shows on this list have only been off the air for a couple of years. In the case of this show, however, it€™s been 20 years since if went off the air. The premise of €œQuantum Leap€ was simple: Dr. Sam Beckett was lost in time and ends up in different time periods of the 20th century where he temporarily takes the place of other people. He tries to correct mistakes that these people have made, and when the job was done he would disappear and end up in somewhere else, repeating the process over. Meanwhile, his friend Al Calavicci was trying to bring him home, and would occasionally pop up as a hologram that only Sam could see. The last episode of the series had Sam going back to make sure that Al and his first wife stayed together. As a result, Al never became a womanizer, he and wife never separated, and they had four children. Sam, however, never returned home, and for all we know is still leaping around. The great part about this show is that most of the episodes were self-contained, and that€™s just how the comic book could be. Most series these days aren€™t accessible to curious comic goers because they involve story-lines that have been going on for years. I see a €œQuantum Leap€ series having a story that spreads about three issues, and by the end of the third issue he would leap to another era. It€™s short, to the point, and perfect for collected editions. And of course each story would end with his exclamation of surprise: €œOh, boy...€
