10 TV Shows That Deserve Comic Book Continuations

5. Sliders

Sliders

Similar to €œQuantum Leap,€ €œSliders€ was a sci-fi show from the €˜90s that involved a group of humans who were €œsliding€ between parallel Earths and hoping to eventually get back to their Earth. The vortexes that dumped them in these parallel universes were random and could only be opened at certain times. Failure to open the vortex at the correct time would strand the travelers in that universe for almost 30 years. Most episodes involved the characters learning the differences between their Earth and the other Earths. This show had a lot of obstacles throughout its run, from the change in network (from Fox to the Sci-Fi channel) to multiple cast changes that alienated many of the viewers. The majority of season 5 budget went toward€™s the show€™s penultimate episode, and the last episode had Rembrandt inject himself with a virus that was lethal to the Kromaggs, the main villains of the series. Rembrandt then slides back to the main Earth, and that€™s where the show ended. The way I see it, with all the casting changes and turmoil that went on behind-the-scenes, the story of the show started to become convoluted. Here€™s what I suggest: time jump. Let€™s have a series that focuses on a new group of characters that are €œsliding€ across multiple realities, sort of a €œSliders: The Next Generation€ type of series. The first issue of the series could start with a summary of the television series and explain what happened to Rembrandt and the original Sliders. This way, the story can start with a relatively clean slate.
