10 TV Shows That Deserve Feature Films
7. Daredevil
The Premise: Matt Murdock is a lawyer by day, and superhero Daredevil by knight. Oh, and he's blind, using his heightened senses to combat criminals in New York's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. Daredevil, which streams on Netflix, marked the first MCU property on the web content king.
Why It Deserves The Feature Film Treatment: Because it's the first property in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to get really dark. And because Charlie Cox is, for the time being anyway, the definitive Daredevil.
While former Daredevil Ben Affleck is busy putting on the cape and cowl in Batman v Superman, Cox has been a much better Daredevil thus far on the "small screen" for Netflix. On top of that, Daredevil features the best Punisher to date, and is busy tearing up our screens with the second season. That's with all apologies to Thomas Jane, who was a very good Punisher saddled with both a terrible script and John Travolta chewing the scenery and hamming it up at every possible moment.
In any case, what you have in Daredevil is the best rendition of a superhero who deserved better than the major motion picture he got (and let's not talk about the terrible Elektra spin-off from 2005). So give him that option. Of course, Netflix will be loathe to launch a production outside of their streaming service, but a full-length Daredevil feature done right should happen at some point. It deserves to be in theatres.
