10 TV Shows That Failed Spectacularly In Their Final Season
5. Veronica Mars
More than a decade after Veronica Mars was cancelled, its belated fourth season was released on Hulu in 2019, as proved quite the bittersweet experience for many fans.
Though it was certainly great to see Kristen Bell back in the title role for the first time since 2014's Kickstarter-funded film, season four ultimately fell far short of its predecessors.
Even beyond its mere eight-episode length - less than half that of the three previous seasons - the shift towards a more "mature" tone fundamentally altered the show's identity in a way that rubbed many the wrong way.
It just felt off, but what truly sealed season four's fate was the wildly unpopular twist ending, where Veronica gets married to her boyfriend Logan (Jason Dohring), only for him to be killed by a car bomb in the finale's closing moments.
Plus, with Hulu deciding not to move forward with a fifth season, it currently stands as the show's miserable conclusion, as understandably left fans apoplectic.
Series revivals which take a departure from their prior glories can work, but Veronica Mars made all the wrong calls in its final run of episodes.
