10 TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled
3. Walker: Independence
Because prequels are evidently what The CW does when it's run out of ideas otherwise, Walker: Independence - a prequel to their Jared Padalecki-starring Walker, Texas Ranger reboot - takes place in the late 1800s and revolves around Cordell Walker's (Padalecki) ancestor Abby (Katherine McNamara).
Despite not-bad reviews, Walker: Independence's ratings were soft right out of the gate, with the general sentiment being that there just wasn't an audience for a Western prequel to this property.
And so, between poor viewing figures and The CW's recent bloodbath of underperforming content, it was given the chop.
Given that the network did however renew the mainline Walker series for a fourth season despite its own declining ratings, it was a pretty emphatic vote of no confidence for the prequel.
Executive producer Padalecki has since stated that the show is being shopped around to other networks, but with its linear TV ratings peaking at just 620,000 viewers, it's tough to imagine many others having much interest.
