10 TV Shows That Just Got Renewed

4. The Goldbergs

The Goldbergs

The Goldbergs is a weird show. On the one hand its 80s setting allows it to be the perfect throwback sitcom that would work well on a mainstream network like ABC, while on the other hand it's also a series that had Freddy Krueger guest star on it, bringing back Robert Englund to reprise his iconic role.

Due to that variety and constantly solid writing, The Goldbergs has already enjoyed seven successful seasons on ABC, with the network announcing in May that the show would be returning for an eighth run.

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as ABC has always stated that it intends for The Goldbergs to be one of its mainstays, but ratings did dip a touch during its seventh run. Still that doesn't seem to have impacted the decision at all.

Sadly, spin-off show Schooled, set in the 1990s, hasn't fared as well, with the network cancelling that series after only two seasons.
